On Friday, February 9, the night before the Lunar New Year, the Upper School Chinese Club organized a festive photo session where students were encouraged to pose with various props in celebration of the Lunar New Year.
We were honored to have Chef Jose Muñoz join us in the Dining Hall during lunch on Tuesday, February 13, where he demonstrated the art of preparing shrimp fried rice and potstickers (dumplings), a beloved tradition in China, especially during holidays. In fact, Oscar Tian, a ninth-grade student at MVA, created an engaging video highlighting the significance and history of dumplings, which we featured during the talent show.
The following night, the Chinese Club revived The Lunar New Year Talent Show for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic, an event that had been a cherished tradition at MVA for many years. With the help of parents who brought in snacks, food, water, and assistance during rehearsals and during the show, along with the dedication of talented performers and hardworking members of the Chinese Club, the event was a great success. This 80-minute show, comprised of over eleven captivating acts, was a testament to the collective effort and commitment of everyone involved.
On behalf of the MVA Chinese Club, we wish you a year filled with honor, good, luck, courage, and success.
