Students in Mr. Tom Narducci’s eighth-grade social studies class participated in a Shark Tank-style project for their midterm exam. Students were tasked with developing an idea of a good or service that can have an impact on society. These students then created a company, a brand, and a logo; and they developed a business plan to entice investors (sharks) to give capital to transform their idea from a plan into a reality.
During midterm exam week, they pitched their ideas to Shark Tank investors made up of community members and professionals from the surrounding area. There were even a few MVA alumni who participated in the project. It was a fun culminating activity following a semester of financial literacy and a unit on America’s Economic Development.
