The students volunteered their time rehearsing and training with the Chinese Association of Orlando. Some of the members participated in the fashion show, and others participated in the Tai Chi performances. Max Zhang, junior and President of the MVA Chinese club, shared, “I was happy and excited to be performing at the City of Groveland festival. Members of the club did their best to share their culture with their community.”
“I was very proud of the students,” said Mrs. Margaret Price, Assistant Dean of Students for Multiculturalism, Leadership, and Student Programs. “It was obvious that [the dance] is an important part of their culture. Families brought their kids over to take pictures with our students, and I could overhear them say, ‘Maybe one day when you’re older you’ll be able to participate in the dance.'”
The Chinese Association of Orlando has loaned the Chinese Club their dragon costumes for the MVA Lunar New Year Talent Show, which will be held on Wednesday, February 14, at 7 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. All three divisions are invited to attend and enjoy. All attendees will receive an opportunity to win gift cards in the Lucky Draw Red Envelope Raffle.
